Earlier, due to our system’s nature of auto-card charging, we were unable to auto-charge VCC (Virtual Credit Card) for OTA bookings. We had to face the following problems while trying to auto-charge the bookings.
- In case we need to charge VCC (Virtual Credit Card) for prepaid bookings, we had to disable the city ledger configuration which confused the property owners and treat those booking as Pay At Hotel.
- Our system used to attempt to auto-charge the VCC booking even when the VCC was not activated for the booking, resulting in failure auto charging. This was due to the fact that our system used to charge the payment on the day the booking was made and VCC often works 1 day after the check-in date as per defined policy on OTA.
So one of the property clients requested a feature where we can charge prepaid bookings and VCC will only be charged when it is activated so that unsuccessful auto charging attempts can be avoided.
To overcome such issues, we started using the activation date provided by Booking.com and Expedia and will charge the card on that date. This way, the card will be successfully charged, and no manual effort will be required if the card fails.
Only Booking.com and Expedia are providing activation dates with their bookings, so these OTA cards will be charged on the activation dates and for other OTAs, they will be charged 1 day after the check-in date.
Note : Once VCC is charged for the prepaid booking, the city ledger under the cashiering center will be settled automatically.
We will also display the card activation date under the Credit Card info section. Please refer to the following screenshot below.
