Booking.com has introduced a new API called Market Insights. Using this API hoteliers can retrieve a demand data report of a property’s region. The data in this report is historical; i.e. two weeks (14 days) from the date the report is generated.

Once you click on the “MARKET INSIGHTS” tab on the dashboard, you will see the graphical representation of the demand data provided by Booking.com

Similarly, another option provided in this report is “Property Data”. It indicates the data available in the YCS system for a particular property. This cumulative data includes reservations coming from other OTAs, PMS, Booking Engine etc. connected with a particular account. Please refer to the following screenshot for property data.
The representation of both Demand Data (Provided by Booking.com) and Property Data (Available in the YCS system for a particular property) is classified into 6 different categories as explained below.
Explanation of the data categories:
- Book window: Refers to the number of days in the future that guests looked to book.
- Traveller type: Refers to whether guests planned to travel solo, as a couple, family, or group.
- Device: Refers to the device guests used for bookings.
- Cancellation policy: Refers to which cancellation policies were most popular based on actual reservations.
- Top 5 countries: Refers to the top countries from which the guests searched.
- Domestic and international travellers: Refers to, whether guests searched from the country is (domestic) or from another country (international).
Another option provided is “compare with property data“, using this option users can do a comparison analysis of data between Booking.com and property data. Please refer to the following screenshot showing comparison details.
Note: Market Insight is only available for those properties that have Booking.com in their eZee Channel Manager account.
