Simplified Tax Management for prepaid bookings (As of now, for US Clients only)

We are thrilled to introduce a powerful new feature that will streamline the tax management process for prepaid bookings for hotels! In certain regions, local laws require booking channels to manage and remit taxes directly to the appropriate tax authorities. To give our Hotels more control and flexibility, we’ve added new options that allow hotels to easily manage tax exemptions for prepaid bookings from those channels.

How Does It Work?

  • A new setting, “Exempt Tax in Prepaid Bookings,” has been added to the Extranet under Reservation > Distribution > Settings, as shown in the screenshot below.
  • The setting is disabled by default. Once the channel is enabled, an Edit button will appear, allowing hotels to select or deselect the taxes that they wish to exempt.

Upon enabling the highlighted setting, a popup will show a list of all taxes and the user can select which tax to exempt making it easy to configure exemptions for upcoming bookings.

Once configured, tax exemptions will automatically apply to new bookings, and the exempted taxes will be displayed in our PMS as well as in our channel manage as shown below.

This tax-exempted information will be visible on various screens, including the Guest Portal Bill, Reservation Vouchers, etc. At the moment this feature applies exclusively to Booking.com and Expedia. All future bookings coming in our system after enabling this settings will have taxes exempted automatically. There won’t be any impact on the past bookings that were generated before enabling this change.
